Background/Motivation



Co-ordinated regional logistics - why?


Congested yards and time-consuming unloading are costly. But unplanned transport flows are increasing with just-in-time concepts.
The project CORELOG, co-ordinated regional logistics, targets at promoting ways to better cope with resource deficits like dock capacity, personnel for unloading, storage areas etc.
The measure to be proposed is an co-ordination of fragmented logistics operations now leading to so-called selfish optimization Source. CORELOG is based on the knowledge of studies and experiences with city logistics projects and thus knows that solutions have to be introduced which save money in the procurement and the administration and avoiding costly transshipment processes.
