Congested
yards and time-consuming unloading are costly. But unplanned transport
flows are increasing with just-in-time concepts. The projectCORELOG,
co-ordinated regional logistics, targets at promoting ways to better
cope with resource deficits like dock capacity, personnel for
unloading, storage areas etc. The measure to be proposed is an co-ordination of fragmented logistics operations now leading to so-called selfish optimizationSource.
CORELOG is based on the knowledge of studies and experiences with city
logistics projects and thus knows that solutions have to be introduced
which save money in the procurement and the administration and avoiding
costly transshipment processes.
